Two more NDRF teams to reach Puducherry on Saturday

Puducherry prepares for potential weather threat with additional NDRF teams deployed, schools closed, and emergency operations in place.
The District Administration has decided to remain prepared to deal with any threat to life and property in Puducherry due to the weather system brewing in the Bay of Bengal.
Following the Puducherry government’s request for additional teams of the National Disaster Response Force, the Centre will be deploying two more NDRF teams on Saturday. Both the teams would be stationed in Puducherry. Already, a team has reached Puducherry and another team has been deployed in Karaikal region.
“We are constantly getting updates from the Regional Meteorological Centre and accordingly taking steps. Though there was no rain in the region on Friday, we are not letting our guard down. The Emergency Operation Centre on ECR is working round-the-clock and coordinating with the other departments,” said an official.
After formation of the deep depression, schools and colleges remained shut for the last few days and will remain closed on Saturday also. The sky remained overcast for most of part of the day in Puducherry on Friday under the influence of the weather system.

The Karnataka government has drafted a comprehensive master plan for the integrated development of Kukke Subrahmanya temple, the State’s highest revenue-generating temple managed by the Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Department.
