Armed robbers kill two ATM cash-refillers, flee with ₹93 lakh; police form teams to solve case within 24 hours.
Two men from an ATM cash-refilling agency team were killed when bike-borne armed robbers opened six rounds of fire at them when they arrived to load cash in an ATM Kiosk near Shivaji Chowk in Bidar on Thursday morning.
The robbers decamped with the cash box containing over ₹93 lakh.
One of the security team member Giri Venkatesh died on the spot, while the other Shivakumar failed to respond to treatment and died in hospital.
The unidentified accused, who were already present on the premises, fired six rounds with a pistol the moment the vehicle of the private firm carrying money reached the ATM kiosk. They snatched the cash box and fled the scene on the bike.
The robbery has been captured on a mobile phone camera by an onlooker and it has gone viral. The video shows the biker duo, wearing helmet, opening fire and snatching the cash box before fleeing the scene.
Bidar Superintendent of Police Pradeep Gunti, who visited the crime spot, said that the police are examining the CCTV footage from the area and adjoining localities to trace the accused.
Three teams have been formed to crack the robbery, the officer said and added that the case will be solved within 24 hours.
