Mysuru traffic police trained in life-saving BLS procedures by Manipal Hospital to prevent fatalities in road accidents.
Mysuru traffic police personnel underwent training in Basic Life Support (BLS) that included life-saving emergency procedures like Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), chest compressions, and defibrillation at a programme held in Mysuru on Friday.
The training programme in which Mysuru Traffic Police partnered with Manipal Hospital, Mysuru, was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic and Crime) S. Jahnavi in the presence of Assistant Commissioner of Police for Traffic H. Parashuramappa at St. Philomena’s Auditorium in Bannimantap.
It was aimed at training the police personnel in the life-saving procedures that were essential to prevent fatalities.
“In road safety scenarios, BLS play a critical role as immediate medical intervention could drastically improve survival rates in the aftermath of traffic accidents,” said a press statement. About 500 police personnel attended the programme.
It was held as part of the Road Safety month, observed every year in January in the country.
Consultant, emergency medicine at Manipal Hospital, Dr. Amogha Varsha emphasized the importance of BLS. “In emergency medicine, every second counts. BLS is not just a set of skills, it is a bridge between life and the advanced care that follows. By learning BLS, you become the critical first responder, who can save lives before professional help arrives.”
