Congress celebrates Sonia Gandhi's 78th birthday with cake cutting and blood donation camp, highlighting party achievements in Telangana.
Congress leaders and supporters celebrated the 78th birthday of Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi at Gandhi Bhavan on Monday. The celebrations were filled with a sense of gratitude and festivity, highlighted by the cutting of a massive cake and the inauguration of a mega blood donation camp.
The cake-cutting ceremony was led by former MP V. Hanumantha Rao, along with AICC in-charge for Telangana Deepa Dasmunsi, TPCC president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, MP Anil Kumar Yadav, MLC Balmuri Venkat and other prominent Congress leaders. Following the celebrations, a blood donation camp was organised under the aegis of the TPCC.
Speaking to the media on the occasion, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar emphasised the dual significance of the day, celebrating both Sonia Gandhi’s birthday and the Congress government’s successful completion of one year in Telangana. He described the milestone as a ‘Prajapalana Vijayotsavam’ and expressed pride in the Congress’s role in the creation of Telangana under Sonia Gandhi’s leadership.
“The Congress government in Telangana has been steering the State towards redevelopment, fostering democratic values and addressing the needs of the people,” Mr. Goud said. He also criticised the previous BRS regime for being elitist and disconnected from the public. Referring to the controversy surrounding the ‘Telangana Talli’ statue, he said that they had designed the statue to reflect Telangana’s culture and traditions and rubbished the allegations of BRS.
