Tourists banned in Hogenakkal as the water level crosses 28,000 cusecs

The inflow into Hogenakkal touched 28,000 cusecs on Tuesday (December 3, 2024), with the water level steadily increasing by the hour.
The inflow that was 14,000 cusecs at 6 am increased to 21,000 cusecs by 8 a.m. The water inflow in Cauvery increased further to 28,000 cusecs by forenoon. The inflow into Biligudulu reservoir in Krishnagiri is set to increase further with the continuing rains.

In view of the increase in the inflow, Collector K. Shanthi has declared a ban on tourists and coracle operations in Hogenakkal.
Monday’s rains that had damaged a bridge near Kottaimedu was being repaired, according to the district administration.
The bridge that was blockaded with the rising water level from the floods will be brought back to use by Tuesday evening, according to Ms. Shanthi.
