Tourism Minister tours rain-hit areas in Dharmapuri

Relief and rehabilitation efforts in rain-hit Dharmapuri led by Minister for Tourism R. Rajendran after cyclonic rains caused damage.
Relief and rehabilitation works in rain-hit Dharmapuri began on Tuesday, a day after cyclonic rains caused severe damage across the district, washing away ground bridges and roads, damaging houses, and flooding habitations.
Minister for Tourism R. Rajendran toured through the district, where he inspected rainfall-induced damages and distributed relief.
Mr. Rajendran, along with Collector K. Shanthi inspected the Kaatuvalavu in Thoppur, where a ground bridge was washed away snapping connectivity to the village. Works have begun to restore road connectivity to the village.
The minister also toured Appanahalli Kombai village where over 200 families were affected, and distributed relief materials to the residents. Meanwhile at the foothill of Vathalmalai near Harur, where a bridge was washed away in the floods, a temporary road is being laid.
The Skill Development Centre will offer training programmes in advanced manufacturing, electrical and electronic technologies, mechatronics and automation, information technology and digital transformation, renewable energy and sustainability, health and allied fields, hospitality and service sector businesses and soft skills, communication and leadership.
