'That's A Red Herring': Constituents Slam Republicans Over DOGE Cuts In Fiery Town Halls

MSNBC's Rachel Maddow tossed to several clips of voters ripping GOP lawmakers for their support of cost-cutting efforts under President Donald Trump.
Furious voters have flocked to confront GOP lawmakers this week over their support for the Trump administration’s cost-cutting crusade.
Republicans backing efforts by billionaire Elon Musk’s nonofficial Department of Government Efficiency have faced angry constituents at town hall events over the waves of layoffs, firings and other budget-slashing measures that have wreaked havoc on the federal government.
MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow tossed to a number of clips on Friday that show voters slamming Republicans like Sen. Rich McCormick (R-Ga.), who was showered with boos and jeers over his DOGE support at a chaotic town hall.
Maddow also highlighted another clip from a virtual town hall where a man, who identified as a registered Republican and retired U.S. Army officer, grilled Rep. Stephanie Bice (R-Okla.) over “some college whiz kids” at DOGE determining that it was “OK” to cut veterans benefits.
The Department of Veterans Affairs revealed last week that it would dismiss over 1,000 employees in a decision that VA Secretary Doug Collins claimed wouldn’t “negatively impact VA health care, benefits or beneficiaries” as “mission-critical” positions were exempt from the move.
