Telangana to partner with NIN for food safety and quality in Gurukuls

TGSWREIS partners with NIN to enhance food safety and quality in 268 institutions, ensuring nutritious meals for 1.7 lakh students.
The Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TGSWREIS) will partner with National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) to improve food safety and quality in all its institutions.
The aim is to improve meal standards and nutritional quality, and ensure that students receive safe, hygienic, and nutritious food every day.
According to officials, the introduction of a common diet plan marks a significant milestone in maintaining uniform food standards across all Gurukuls. The 268 institutions in the State have a strength of 1.7 lakh students.
The initiative to collaborate with NIN is in view of the recent concerns over food contamination cases and repeat complaints and incidents meal quality.
By leveraging NIN’s expertise, the State government aims to establish rigorous safety measures, conduct quality assessments, and enforce best dietary practices. The partnership is a testament to the government’s dedication to student well-being, setting new benchmarks in food safety and reinforcing the commitment to holistic development in Gurukuls, officials said.
