
Telangana renews MoU with CEGIS to improve public expenditure efficiency

Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka renews MOU with CEGIS Foundation to enhance governance and revenue in Telangana.
To strengthen data-driven governance and improve the efficiency of public expenditure in Telangana, Deputy Chief Minister, Bhatti Vikramarka, along with officials from the State Finance and Planning Departments, renewed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Centre for Effective Governance of Indian States (CEGIS) Foundation for the next five years. This is in continuation of the collaboration that took place between 2019 and 2024. The meeting was held in Hyderabad on Monday (February 17, 2025).
CEGIS will provide analytical support in augmenting the State’s revenue. In addition, CEGIS will also assist in analysing efficiency of energy utilities by reducing the average cost of supply, efficiency of power purchase agreements and efficient energy use for end consumers, as per the press release.
The Foundation, since 2019, has worked alongside the Planning & Finance Departments in Telangana and key line departments such as Education, Women Development and Child Welfare, Agriculture to co-create interventions and strengthen governance for better developmental outcomes.
Officials who signed the MOU include State Finance Department Special Secretary Ramakrishna Rao, Planning Department Principal Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Founder of the Centre for Effective Governance of Indian States Foundation, Karthik Muraleedharan, project director Harinarayan, and planning director Om Prakash.
