Women police personnel in Nirmal town patrol with GPS-equipped vehicles to enhance visible policing and ensure women's safety.
Ahead of International Women’s Day on March 8, the women police personnel in Nirmal town embarked on the challenging task of patrolling the streets in vehicles equipped with GPS devices to strengthen visible policing and keep a tab on anti-social elements.
The police higher-ups deployed patrolling teams comprising women cops as part of an initiative titled “Police Akka” to ensure effective surveillance and safety of women in public places.
According to police sources, the police women patrolling teams will promptly attend to the emergency calls from women in distress on the ‘Dial 100’ emergency response system.
Two women constables in each police station have been assigned the task of performing the patrolling duty and conducting awareness programmes in various educational institutions on the Telangana police’s SHE teams and the technology-based tools/apps for the safety and security of women.
