Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is holding a review meeting on the rescue works underway at the partially collapsed portion of Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel in Nagakurnool. It has been a month that the incident happened on February 22 morning trapping eight people.
Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Chief Secretary A. Santhi Kumari and senior officials are at the meeting underway at Assembly Committee Hall in Hyderabad on Monday (March 24, 2025).
Of the eight people trapped in the tunnel, one body was recovered. Nagakurnool collector Santosh Badavath on Monday said that digging at D1 and D2 spots and dewatering in the tunnel is going on continuously. Except the spots in the tunnel which are considered as extremely dangerous, the rescue works were accelerated in the remaining places.
Parts of tunnel boring machine (TBM) which were cut were moved away and sludge was washed off using jet sprays. Excavators were used to remove mud onto the conveyor belt.
The collector said that the rescue teams from the State and Centre worked relentlessly to trace the remaining people.

The sun is already high in the sky, beating down fiercely on our heads, when we reach Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace in Chamrajpet, Bengaluru. But inside the beautiful high-ceilinged structure, it is surprisingly pleasant, the interiors airy and light-filled. According to a plaque outside the two-storied edifice made out of wood, stone, mortar and plaster, construction here was started by Hyder Ali Khan in 1781 and completed by his son, Tipu Sultan, in 1791, eight years before the Tiger of Mysore would be killed by the British in 1799.
