Telangana CM Revanth Reddy orders police to take stringent action against attackers of Chilkur Balaji Temple priest
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy directed police to take stringent action against those who allegedly attacked Chilkur Balaji Temple chief priest C. S. Rangarajan.
The Chief Minister, who is also Home Minister, spoke to the chief priest over phone and expressed concern and sympathised with him. Mr. Reddy said that such attacks will not be tolerated.
In a related development, IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu too strongly condemned the attack on Mr. Rangarajan. The attack was allegedly carried out by miscreants claiming to be proponents of ‘Rama Rajya’ at his residence, located adjacent to the Chilkur Balaji temple on Friday.
In a statement here on Monday, Mr. Sridhar Babu denounced the incident, terming it a “heinous act” that hurts the sentiments of devotees of Lord Rama. He warned that the government will deal strictly with those who commit such atrocities in the name of Rama Rajya.
The Minister also emphasised that using the name of Lord Rama to justify anarchic and barbaric activities is a crime that will not be tolerated. He urged the police, public, and all political parties to be vigilant against individuals and groups misusing Hindutva sentiments to spread violence and hatred.
The Minister assured that the government will take stern action against those responsible for the attack. He described such attacks on priests who work selflessly for the welfare of society while protecting dharma as “inhuman” and vowed that the government will not ignore such incidents.
