A 17-year-old girl set on fire for rejecting love, sparking tragedy in Andhra Pradesh, prompting police action.
A 17-year-old girl was set on fire allegedly by an youngster for spurning his love in Byreddy Nagar of Nandikotkur Mandal of Nandyal district of Andhra Pradesh.
According to information, the victim was studying intermediate first year. An youngster, Raghavendra of Veldurthi mandal was reportedly pestering the girl to accept his love.
Angered over the girl refusing his love, Raghavendra forcibly entered her home on Sunday (December 8, 2024) night and set her ablaze. She died at the spot. Raghavendra too set himself ablaze to end his life. He was shifted to a hospital by locals and his condition is said to be critical.
Home Minister V. Anitha expressed grief over the death of the girl and asked police to take stern action against the accused. Ms. Anitha spoke with Nandyal Superintendent of Police Adhiraj Singh Rana and enquired about the incident.
The Home Minister directed the SP to visit the crime scene and monitor the investigation into the case.
