First prototype built by TLMAL facility in Hyderabad
US aerospace and defence major Lockheed Martin has formally recognised Tata-Lockheed Martin Aerostructures Ltd (TLMAL) as a potential future co-producer of fighter wings.
Paving the way for manufacture of the fighter aircraft wings, the move follows TLMAL, a joint venture between Tata Advanced Systems Ltd and Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, building the first prototype here.
Lockheed Martin and TLMAL had in 2018 entered into an agreement to develop a fighter wing prototype. “Through this prototype project, TLMAL demonstrated the capability to perform detailed part manufacturing and delivery of a fully compliant representative fighter aircraft wing shipset,” Lockheed Martin said in a release on an event marking the first fighter wing prototype built at the JV facility here.
