Tamil Nadu CM M.K. Stalin unveils plans for TIDEL Parks in Tiruchi and Madurai, awards artisans and differently-abled persons.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Tuesday (February 18, 2025) unveiled the foundation stone for establishing TIDEL Parks in Tiruchi and Madurai at a total cost of ₹717 crore. Both the parks are expected to house about 12 lakh professionals working in the Information Technology sector.
The TIDEL Park at Panjappur in Tiruchi would be constructed at a cost of ₹403 crore and would be a six-storey building with a built-up area of 5.58 lakh sq.ft. The one at Mattuthavani in Madurai would be constructed at a cost of ₹314 crore. The TIDEL Park in Madurai would be a 12-storeyed building with a built-up area of about 5.34 lakh sq.ft.
In another event, the CM handed over ‘Living Craft Treasure’ awards to nine crafts persons and also handed over Poompuhar State Awards to nine artisans. C. Murugesan, C. Rajagopal, R. Radha, C. Balaraman, S. Nagamuthu Achari, S. Krishnamoorthy, Hamsa Beevi, P. Krishnan and S. Lilly Mary received the ‘Living Craft Treasure’ awards for 2023-24.
The ‘Living Craft Treasure Award’ honours crafts persons of eminence, who are over 65 years of age. The award carries a cheque for ₹1 lakh, a thamirapattiram, an eight-gram gold medal and a certificate.
Mr. Stalin handed over the Poompuhar State Awards to C.V. Ramakrishnan, G. Gunasundari, C. Kathan, R. Meyyar, K, Ramesh, H. Sridhar, K. Karthikeyan, B. Kalyanakumar and K. Chandrasekaran for 2023-24.
The Poompuhar State Awards are given to 10 best artisans in the field who have contributed to the development of the crafts of Tamil Nadu every year. It carries a cash prize of ₹50,000, a four-gram gold medal, a tamirapathiram and a certificate.
The CM also handed over the appointment orders to four differently-abled persons, who have been provided employment as tutors in Tamil Nadu Government Music Colleges in Chennai and Madurai. V. Kamalraj (vocals), R. Amirtharaj (violin), G. Kumar (thavil) and R. Suresh Babu (flute) received their respective appointment orders.
