On the second day of the Tamil Nadu International Balloon Festival in Pollachi on Thursday (January 16, 2025), yet another hot air balloon went off course and made an emergency landing at Vattachira near Pattancheri of Palakkad district in Kerala. The balloon, which took off at Achipatti near Pollachi, had two passengers — a mother and daughter — and two crew members; they were all rescued.

The balloon, which took off at Achipatti near Pollachi, had two passengers — a mother and daughter — and two crew members; they were all rescued.
The previous day, another hot air balloon carrying two passengers and two crew members had drifted off course and made an emergency landing at Kannimara in Palakkad.
The 10the edition of the balloon festival was being conducted at Achipatti near Pollachi, and hot air balloons from eight countries, like the US, UK, Mexico, France, Thailand, Brazil, and Netherlands, took part in it.
The balloons normally fly at a height of 100 ft and travel a distance of 10 km.
