
Suspect in Bengaluru murder of Assamese woman arrested

Bengaluru City Police arrest Aarav Hanoy for stabbing Assam volgger Maya Gogoi Deka in Indiranagar service apartment.
Bengaluru City Police have arrested Aarav Hanoy, 21, who allegedly stabbed Maya Gogoi Deka, 19, from Assam, at a service apartment in Indiranagar recently.
The two had checked into a service apartment on November 23 and Aarav had walked out alone on November 26. Hours later, the decomposed body of Maya was found in the room. Aarav, hailing from Kerala, had been absconding since then.
Police teams had fanned out in different directions to nab him. A senior police official confirmed that he was arrested on Friday (November 29, 2024) and was being brought to Bengaluru.
The accused had allegedly pre-planned the murder, carried a knife, and ordered two arm-lengths of nylon rope on a home delivery platform while in the service apartment. He also stayed with her dead body for at least a day.
