School Education Minister emphasizes friendly student-teacher relationships, praises teachers as key to students' academic success at Coimbatore event.
Student-teacher relationship should be friendly, said School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi during a felicitation ceremony for matriculation schools and their staff, organised by the Academic Committee of the Matriculation Schools Society in Coimbatore on Saturday.
The Minister described teachers as key stepping stones in students’ academic journey. He explained that while students may enter school as blank slates, teachers help shape them into knowledgeable individuals, much like a book filled with wisdom.
He added that no technology could replace the personal connection between teachers and students. A friendly relationship, he noted, enhances the teaching-learning experience for both teachers and students and contributes to reducing the dropout rate in the State.
The Minister urged the private schools to expand their admission criteria. He suggested that schools should not rely solely on entrance examination scores but offer opportunities to underperforming students, helping them develop into achievers. This would help schools improve their academic outcomes and produce well-rounded individuals, he said.
Later, he felicitated matriculation school principals and teachers for their achievements with mementos. Coimbatore MP Ganapathy P. Rajkumar, R. Balamurali, Chief Educational Officer, and A. Punitha Anthoniammal, District Education Officer (Private Schools), were also present at the event.
