SRIOR launches digital flipbooks on common cancers in English and Tamil, along with free prostate cancer screening program.
Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Oncology & Research (SRIOR) marked World Cancer Day 2025 on Tuesday by launching a digital flipbooks on common cancers in English and Tamil. The event also saw the inauguration of a free month-long prostate cancer screening programme.
K. Karthikeyan, Superintendent of Police, Coimbatore District, unveiled the flipbooks along with R. Sundar, Managing Trustee, SNR Sons Charitable Trust, in the presence of Narendran, Joint Managing Trustee, SNR Sons Charitable Trust; P. Guhan, Director, SRIOR; Rajagopal, Dean, Sri Ramakrishna Hospital; K. Karthikesh, Surgical Oncologist, SRIOR; C. V. Ramkumar, CEO, SNR Sons Charitable Trust, and other dignitaries.
Dr. Guhan said that the digital flipbooks offered comprehensive, easy-to-access information on common cancers such as breast, lymphoma, lung, testicular, prostate, leukemia, head and neck, stomach, ovarian, multiple myeloma, brain, cervical, pancreatic, and colorectal cancer.
The flipbooks, available via a dedicated QR code and website (https://mhits.in/SRIOR/WCD_2025/index.html), are designed to replicate the experience of reading a physical book, with smooth page transitions. They provide detailed insights into each cancer type, its causes, symptoms, treatment options, prevention strategies, and management tips. Referring to a study, he said the report indicated that one in nine Indians would develop cancer in their lifetime, hence awareness about cancer and early screening were crucial.
K. Karthikeyan, SP, Coimbatore said that with the advancement in medical science and technology, there were wide range of treatments available for cancer patients. However utmost important should be given to the preventive aspect.
