Telangana CM Revanth Reddy mourns the passing of Indian cinema legend Shyam Benegal, highlighting his ties to Hyderabad.
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy expressed his condolences on the death of renowned director, producer, writer, and Padma Bhushan awardee Shyam Benegal, who passed away on Monday (December 23, 2024). He said that the Indian cinema giant has a lot of attachment to Hyderabad.
“Born in Hyderabad and educated here, Shyam Benegal rose to the highest level in the film industry by winning the national awards seven times and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. He ushered in great changes in the film industry by making films like Ankur, Nishant, Manthan, and Bhumika. I pray to God to grant peace to Shyam Benegal’s soul. I expressed deepest condolences to his family,” said Mr. Reddy.

The Karnataka government has drafted a comprehensive master plan for the integrated development of Kukke Subrahmanya temple, the State’s highest revenue-generating temple managed by the Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Department. The redevelopment initiative is estimated to cost around ₹254 crore and aims to enhance infrastructure and facilities for devotees.
