Union Home Minister Amit Shah criticizes Sharad Pawar for lack of development in Maharashtra's cooperative mills, praises PM Modi's efforts.
Sharad Pawar did nothing for the development of cooperative mills in Maharashtra during his time in office, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah said at the Cooperatives conference at Nashik on Friday.
“Pawar sahab you were the Agriculture Minister of India for 10 years. At that time this Cooperative Ministry was under your charge. Now give an account to the people of Maharashtra. Please give an account [of what was done] for the cooperative movement of Maharashtra. What have you done for the sugar mills? What have you done for the farmers? Being a marketer is not enough to become a leader. You have to work on the ground Pawar sahab,” Mr. Shah said at the event
Mr. Shah asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had solved the problems of sugar cooperatives. “For several years, there was a dispute over the tax on cooperative sugar factories in Maharashtra. But the BJP government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, resolved this issue,” Mr. Shah said. He also said that the development of a Cooperation Ministry was a 75-year-old demand, and credited PM Modi for fulfilling the same.
Besides Mr. Shah, Union Minister of State for Cooperation Muralidhar Mohal, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, BJP State president Chandrashekhar Bawankule, and former NCP Minister Chhagan Bhujbal were also present at the event held in Malegaon.
