RLV College, Maharajas in next positions
Sacred Heart College (SHC), Thevara, trounced its rivals by a huge margin to defend its title at the Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU) Youth Festival, which drew to a close here on Tuesday.
The champion college scored 131 points to win the title while RLV College of Music and Fine Arts, with 68 points, was the runner-up. Maharajas College, Ernakulam, came third with 67 points while CMS College, Kottayam, was placed at the fourth spot with 50 points.
While the SHC maintained a clear domination since day one of the event, RLV College banked on some tenacious performances on the penultimate and final days of the festival to race to the second spot.
As in the previous editions, colleges from Ernakulam clinched the first three positions while CMS College, Kottayam, was the only college outside the district to find a place among the top five colleges.
With her impressive performance, Thanvi Rajesh of RLV College, a transwoman student, topped the list of individual performers, followed by Priyadatha R. of the same college.
Meanwhile, the events staged on the final day of the festival drew huge crowds. At the venues of the mimicry and mime competitions, people were seen encouraging the performers wholeheartedly.
Filmmaker Abrid Shine inaugurated the valedictory session of the event, which lasted five days.
