The Karaikal Carnival 2025, organised by the Puducherry Government’s Tourism and Culture Departments, will be held from January 16 to 19 at the Karaikal Government Sports Complex and Karaikal Beach. Featuring seven sports competitions alongside vibrant cultural programmes, the event promises to be a blend of athleticism and artistry, with coordinated efforts by various departments.
The sports events include cricket, football, volleyball, kabaddi, lawn tennis, handball, and a mini marathon. It will feature a Karaikal Dog Show on January 17, a traditional boat race on January 18, and the Karaikal Flower, Vegetable, and Fruit Exhibition from January 16 to 19.
The carnival will be inaugurated on January 16 by Lieutenant-Governor of Puducherry K. Kailashnathan and Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, featuring a live musical performance by Pradeep Kumar and his team. There will also be performances by popular playback singers S.P. Charan on January 18 and Swetha Mohan on January 19. Folk artists Senthil Ganesh and Rajalakshmi, violinist Sabareesh Prabhaker, and performers from Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat will add cultural vibrancy to the celebrations.
The four-day event will conclude on January 19 with a prize distribution ceremony in which Chief Minister N. Rangaswamy is expected to participate.
The events will be held daily from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
