“I’m human, so of course sometimes I read things," the 32-year-old actor said.
Selena Gomez says comments about her weight from online body shamers have left her feeling a “tad bitter.”
“Everyone just has something to say, and it’s really making me sad and — not even sad because, no, I’m not a victim, everyone — I just think it’s made me a tad bitter, and I feel really guilty for saying that, but it’s true,” the actor said while appearing on Monday’s episode of Jay Shetty’s podcast “On Purpose” alongside her fiancé, Benny Blanco.
Gomez was diagnosed with lupus, a chronic autoimmune disease, in 2013. In 2023, Gomez opened up on TikTok about how the medication she takes to manage the disease causes her to gain weight.
The “Emilia Pérez” star, 32, explained that she tries her best to avoid reading comments about herself on the internet, but she admitted sometimes she can’t help but spot the unsavory things her critics say.
“There’s just so many different things that come up in my face, that I can’t help but see … I fall victim to looking at things,” Gomez said. “I’m human, so of course sometimes I read things.”
