The actor said the approach to one of his characters led to a less-than-favorable reaction from his son.
Ben Affleck has revealed why his version of Batman ultimately signaled trouble for his run as the superhero.
The actor told GQ magazine that he took creative interest in the “older, broken, damaged” Bruce Wayne but the approach “started to skew too old for a big part of the audience.”
“Like even my own son at the time was too scared to watch the movie,” said Affleck, who initially starred as the Dark Knight in Zack Snyder’s 2016 film “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” before later appearances in the DC Extended Universe films.
“And so when I saw that I was like, ‘Oh shit, we have a problem.’”
He continued, “Then I think that’s when you had a filmmaker that wanted to continue down that road and a studio that wanted to recapture all the younger audience at cross purposes. Then you have two entities, two people really wanting to do something different and that is a really bad recipe.”
