South Central Railway requests road widening for Cherlapalli terminal, with increased train services and bus connectivity for passengers.
South Central Railway (SCR) has once again requested the Telangana government to take steps to widen the connecting road for the newly opened Cherlapalli railway terminal from the FCI warehouse side and lay a new road through adjacent open lands of TSIIC for the benefit of passengers.
Similarly, the existing Mahalaxmi Nagar Colony road on the northern side also should be widened to cater to the passengers coming from the northern parts. The new roads and provision of other transport services to the ₹413-crore terminal were extensively discussed in the coordination meeting held with government officials, informed Railway officials on Saturday. It was also followed by a joint inspection with Special Secretary, MA & UD and the Medchal- Malkajgiri district Collector where the GHMC was urged to to take up the road work since the area comes under its jurisdiction. “The road works are being pursued at various levels by the railway administration,” said an official spokesperson in a press release.
For now, the railway authorities have provided stoppage to 17 pairs of trains at Cherlapalli to meet the travel needs of public boarding trains. The Ramachandrapuram – Ghatkesar MMTS train timings too have been modified to suit the passengers travelling to Cherlapalli in the evening hours.
As the redevelopment works on the Secunderabad railway station pick up, more trains will be shifted to the station from March-April onwards when the traffic for the Cherlapalli station will only increase. Hence, the road widening works should be expedited, it was pointed out.
The railway officials said that Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has provided bus connectivity and is operating 146 regular bus services from Secunderabad and other locations to Cherlapalli terminal. RTC buses are also connecting with the Habsiguda and Uppal metro rail stations.

There are about 20 ticket checking staff, 17 RPF personnel, six catering stalls, six booking counters on both sides, waiting halls, hi-speed wi fi services and 2,400 sq.mts parking at the station
