YouTuber Savukku Shankar's house ransacked by group of men dressed as sanitary workers, threatening his mother over video comments.
A group of men dressed like sanitary workers ransacked YouTuber ‘Savukku’ Shankar’s house on Monday (March 24, 2025), according to his mother Kamala. The group threatened her and dumped waste on the floor, saying that the YouTuber’s derogatory comments about sanitary workers in one of his videos had hurt them, she said in her complaint.
Mr. Shankar took to social media to share posts of a video call made by one of the trespassers after grabbing his mother’s phone. Police were deployed at his home to prevent further untoward incidents.
Ms. Kamala, 68, lodged the complaint with Kilpauk police station. She said that at 9.45 a.m. on Monday (March 24, 2025) someone banged the door of their house. She did not open the door as a group of angry people were standing outside the door, shouting loudly. A few minutes later, around 20 members, both men and women, trespassed into the house after breaking open the back door of the house. She claimed that they abused and assaulted her.
The trespassers then ransacked the house and poured sewage mixed with human excreta all around the house. “Now we have stopped with this. Next time, we will set fire to you inside the house,” she quoted them as saying.
They also threatened Mr. Shankar when he called his mother, and abused him after snatching her mobile phone, on a video call. They were sitting outside the house and waiting for her son, she said in her complaint. Police personnel came to her house after she called the control room. She told them that Mr. Shankar had disclosed an irregularity in procurement of vehicles for sanitary work, under State and Central government schemes, speculating that those who had been involved in this might have launched the attack.
The City Police said that action would be taken as per law after due investigation.
