Richard Lewis diagnosed with late-onset Parkinson’s disease: 'Luckily, I got it late in life'
Fox News
Comedian and actor Richard Lewis, age 75, announced recently he's been diagnosed with late-onset Parkinson's disease. Here's how it differs from early-onset Parkinson's.
The "Curb Your Enthusiasm" star appeared optimistic about the fact that he was diagnosed with the central nervous system disorder later in life, at 73 years old. Younger patients are also less likely to have dementia or cognitive problems. "Early-onset Parkinson’s generally progresses slower." Those with early-onset Parkinson's tend to have higher rates of depression. Melissa Rudy is health editor and a member of the lifestyle team at Fox News Digital.
"Luckily, I got it late in life … I’m on the right meds — so I’m cool," the actor said.
