Residents in Anna Nagar protest lack of drinking water, causing roadblock, resolved after officials promise repair and supply restoration.
Residents of Anna Nagar staged a roadblock at the Ponnamapettai railway gate on Monday, alleging that they have not received drinking water for the past 15 days.
The protesters said that damage to the pipeline disrupted the drinking water supply to their area, and despite taking up the issue with the councillor and corporation officials, no action was taken to replace the damaged pipeline. Over 100 households have been affected because of this, and they claimed that they were unable to purchase water from the open market.
Road traffic in the area was held up due to the protests, prompting corporation officials and police personnel to rush to the spot and hold talks with the protesting residents. After lending assurances that repair works would be carried out and water supply would resume, the protest was withdrawn and normalcy restored after 30 minutes.

The Karnataka government has drafted a comprehensive master plan for the integrated development of Kukke Subrahmanya temple, the State’s highest revenue-generating temple managed by the Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Department. The redevelopment initiative is estimated to cost around ₹254 crore and aims to enhance infrastructure and facilities for devotees.
