Republic Day celebrations showcase Tirupati district achievements in various sectors, including tourism, industries, and agriculture, with awards and recognitions.
The thoroughly-decorated tableaux of the various departments at the Republic Day celebrations held at the police parade grounds here on Sunday stood testimony to the achievements of the Tirupati district administration on various parameters.
The tableaux highlighted the strides made in the domains of education, DWMA, MGNREGA, cancer screening, 108, 104 ambulance, tourism, industries, DRDA, skill development, PM Viswakarma, PM Internship, housing, Swarnandhra vision 2047, agriculture, medical and health, municipal corporation and mobile veterinary camp.
Collector S. Venkateswar inspected the guard of honour along with the Superintendent of Police V. Harshavardhan Raju. Mr. Venkateswar later gave away the prizes to the excelling tableaux. DRDA and Housing shared the first prize, DWMA and MCT shared the second prize, while the third prize went to the Agriculture Department. The Police Department received a special prize.
Similarly, the stalls arranged by women’s police station, cybercrime wing, SERP, MEPMA, ICDS, agriculture, horticulture, sericulture, tourism, medical & health, handloom & textiles, fisheries, animal husbandry and forest departments also narrated the success stories from their respective perspectives.
In his address, the Collector explained the plans to develop the Tirupati district on spiritual tourism, beach tourism, leisure tourism and also Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) tourism, harnessing the presence of scores of temples and also by developing beaches along the coast, in tune with the new tourism policy 2024-29 announced by the State government.
On the industrial front, seven new industries started functioning with an investment of ₹1,554 crore in the financial year 2024-25, providing jobs to 1,780 youth. Similarly, 1,532 MSMEs set up base with a collective investment of ₹179 crore, providing 6,035 new jobs. “A margin money of ₹578 lakh has been sanctioned to 228 units under Prime Minister’s Employment Guarantee Programme (PMEGP),” Mr. Venkateswar observed.
The Collector presented medals and certificates to meritorious employees, besides those responsible for making the recent Flamingo Festival a success.
