Ramgopal Varma granted interim protection by Andhra Pradesh HC in objectionable messages case till December 9.
Film director Ramgopal Varma got a reprieve in the Andhra Pradesh High Court (HC) in the cases pertaining to posting of objectionable messages allegedly comprising morphed photos and posters against N. Chandrababu Naidu, K. Pawan Kalyan and Nara Lokesh on his ‘X’ account, as it gave him interim protection from arrest till December 9, to which date the matter has been adjourned.
A single judge passed the order on Monday after hearing the anticipatory bail petition filed by Mr. Varma, who had contended that the said messages were posted in December 2023 and February 2024 as part of the promotion of his movie Vyuham and doing so was not barred under law as he has the right to express his views, under Article 19 (1) (a) of the Indian Constitution.
