Rajesh treats Rapadi crowd to mandolin magic

Experience mandolin magic by U. Rajesh at Swaralaya Samanwayam festival in Palakkad with a mix of Indian and western music.
Music lovers of Palakkad were treated to an evening of mandolin magic by U. Rajesh and team on the third day of the Swaralaya Samanwayam dance and music festival being held at Rapadi open air auditorium here on Monday.
Mr. Rajesh, popularly called Mandolin Rajesh, mixed the Indian and western music and provided an ecstatic listening experience to the audience by playing some popular songs.
When C.S. Anoop accompanied him on violin, Palakkad A.M. Harinarayanan played mridangam and Vellattannur Sreejit played ghatom. Carnatic singer Mannoor Rajakumaranunni, Palghat Fine Arts Society secretary P.N. Subharaman, Niya Women’s Wear managing director Adityan felicitated the artistes.
Bindu Lakshmi Pradeep and team presented a dance programme giving life to Changampuzha’s famous poem Ramanan. They also staged Narayana Guru’s Kaleenatakam, Vallathol’s Vannippin Mathavine, Poonthanam’s Njanappana, and Balamani Amma’s Chirakukal. It was followed by a Bharatnatyam performance by Ardra Ravi.
Singer Abhirami Ajay and team will present a ghazal-qawwali musical programme on Tuesday evening. It will be followed by a Bharatnatyam performance by Priyadarshini Govind.
The SCEAD Foundation is on a mission to build 48 toilets for the tribal residents of Maddur Colony in Chamarajanagar district. “So far, we have constructed 10 toilets, with 38 more expected to be completed by the end of January. More than just infrastructure, it is about restoring dignity and improving hygiene,” said Siju Thomas Daniel, a director at the Foundation. The Foundation, along with the Forest Department, is also planting 7,000 saplings in the southern parts of Bengaluru for environmental conservation.
