Raghu Ramakrishna Raju identifies main accused in ‘custodial torture’ case. Police conduct identification parade in the presence of Guntur district judge.
In a significant development in the case pertaining to the alleged custodial torture while in CID custody, K. Raghu Ramakrishna Raju, Deputy Speaker of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, identified the main accused in the case during the identification parade conducted in the presence of Guntur district judge on Sunday.
Mr. Raghu Ramakrishna Raju identified Kamepalli Tulasibabu even as he was paraded along with a few others with similar physical characteristics.
The case dates back to the previous YSRCP government’s term when Mr. Raghu Ramakrishna Raju was a Member of Parliament from the ruling party.
Addressing the media after attending the identification parade, Mr. Raghu Ramakrishna Raju said, “I recognised the man who attacked me, even though he had covered his face with a handkerchief during the incident.”
The identification parade marks a crucial step in taking forward the investigation into the alleged custodial assault, and ensuring accountability for the acts of brutality under custody. Further legal action is expected based on the identification and evidence gathered.
Mr. Raghu Ramakrishna Raju also pointed out that the police were yet to arrest the prime accused in the case.
