'Qatar's mediation efforts underpinned by principle of neutrality'

Doha: The State of Qatar participated yesterday in the ninth Ministerial Conference of Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process on Afghanistan, hosted by the Republic of Tajikistan.

The delegation of the State of Qatar to the conference was headed by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs H E Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi. In a speech to the conference, he said that the State of Qatar appreciates the efforts of Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process in promoting political negotiations, regional cooperation and building confidence to help Afghanistan achieve peace and prosperity. The State of Qatar believes in the same issue, he noted, adding that the State actively participated in resolving various conflicts in the Middle East and beyond through dialogue and mediation based on basic principles that include both neutrality, impartiality and independence in accordance with international law and consent of the parties.
