‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’: Allu Arjun’s film with 23 minutes of extra footage to be out on this OTT platform
Looks like Pushpa is all set to rule the smaller screens after his successful run in theatres! The OTT platform of Allu Arjun and director Sukumar’s latest film is finally confirmed.
Pushpa 2: The Rule is said to have made ₹1000 crore at the global box office in just six days from its release, making it the fastest Indian film to reach this feat has now hit the ₹1500 crore mark. The film is a sequel to the 2021 Telugu blockbuster Pushpa: The Rise. Released on December 5, 2024, it features dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Bengali, and Malayalam.
Last month, production banner Mythri Movie Makers, which bankrolled the project, reacted to rumours about the film’s OTT release. The makers also confirmed that the film will not hit streaming platforms before completing 56 days in theatres.
It’s now known that Netflix will be the streaming platform for the sequel, and the X profile of the streaming giant announced it with a tweet. The tweet also confirmed that the OTT version of the film will feature 23 minutes of extra footage, which was recently added to the theatre cut.
While Netflix confirmed the film’s Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada versions will be out on the platform soon, there has not been a confirmation on the film’s Hindi version. The platform is also yet to confirm the streaming date, but it’s speculated that the film will stream from January 30, as that would mark 56 days since the film hit theatres.
In the sequel, Allu Arjun reprises his role as Pushpa Raj, a laborer-turned-sandalwood smuggler, alongside Rashmika Mandanna as Srivalli and Fahadh Faasil as SP Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat. Pushpa 2 also boasts an ensemble cast, including Anasuya Bharadwaj, Sunil, and Jagapathi Babu.
