Puducherry MLAs on a week-long foreign trip

Puducherry legislators to visit Nepal on government invitation, led by Speaker R. Selvam, returning on March 7.
Most of the Puducherry legislators will be out of the country for a week as they are planning to visit Nepal from Sunday on the invitation of the country’s government. The delegation will be led by Speaker R. Selvam and Puducherry Ministers.
According to Mr. Selvam, the legislators have been invited by the Nepal government for visiting the Federal Parliament of Nepal.
Of the total 33 legislators — 30 elected and three nominated legislators — in the Puducherry Assembly, 22 MLAs are part of the delegation. Many of the legislators have left to New Delhi on Saturday morning itself to board the flight to Nepal from the national capital. The legislators are set to return to Puducherry on March 7, said a government source.

The Greater Bengaluru Governance Bill, 2024, which restructures the civic administration in Bengaluru, will be tabled in the upcoming Budget session of the State legislature, and following its passage, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will be split into two or three corporations and “elections will be held in May 100%”, Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy has said.

The High Court of Karnataka has quashed criminal proceedings initiated against two members of the faculty and seven students of Centre for Management Studies (CMS) of Jain (Deemed-to-be) University on the allegation that they had insulted B.R. Ambedkar and Dalit communities in a skit enacted during the inter-collegiate Jain University Youth Fest-23 held in February 2023 in the city.
