Prof. Siddu P. Algur assumes charge as Vice-Chancellor of CUK

Professor Siddu P. Algur, new Vice-Chancellor of CUK, brings vast experience in academia and transformative initiatives to the role.
Professor Siddu P. Algur officially assumed office as the fourth Vice-Chancellor of the Central University of Kerala (CUK) on Monday (March 24).
Prof. Algur, upon his arrival at the administrative office, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Bhawan, was warmly welcomed by Prof. Vincent Mathew, who had been serving as the Vice-Chancellor in-charge, along with Registrar Dr M. Muralidharan Nambiar, Controller of Examinations Dr R. Jayaprakash, Deans, staff, and other university officials.
Prior to this appointment, Prof. Algur served as Vice-Chancellor of Vijayanagara Sri Krishnadevaraya University (VSKU), Ballari, from August 2019 to August 2023. Born into a modest agricultural family in Terdal, Bagalkot district, Karnataka, he earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Mysore University, a Master’s degree in Engineering from Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Allahabad, and a PhD from Gulbarga University, Kalaburagi. His career spans nearly four decades, starting at an engineering college and culminating in leadership positions at some of Karnataka’s most prestigious institutions.
A distinguished expert in Web Mining, Knowledge Discovery, and Big Data Analytics, Prof. Algur has authored numerous research articles published in national and international journals and conference proceedings. He has also served as a member of the Syndicate and Academic Councils of several respected institutions and universities across India.
