President Droupadi Murmu on February 20 greeted the people of Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram on their Statehood day and said these States represent India's rich culture and diversity.

"Greetings to the people of Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram on Statehood day. These states represent India's rich culture and diversity. I was deeply touched by the warm reception in Mizoram during my recent visit. I look forward to Statehood day celebrations in Itanagar today," the President tweeted.

Representatives of rail travellers associations of Karaikal, Nagapattinam, and Mayiladuthurai and some members of political parties staged a demonstration in Tiruchi on Monday condemning the Southern Railway administration for “neglecting” the demands of the coastal towns of Karaikal, Nagore, Nagapattinam, and Velankanni with regard to train services.

Concerned about the rising instances of illegal borewell drilling, Whitefield residents are urging the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) to coordinate and deploy personnel for patrolling the ward, at least on weekends. The demand comes in the wake of an increase in mercury levels in the city.
