President confers Arjuna Award-2024 on Jeevanji Deepthi from Telangana

Telangana para-athlete Jeevanji Deepthi receives prestigious Arjuna Award-2024 for outstanding achievements in Para Athletics.
A champion para-athlete from Telangana, Jeevanji Deepthi, was conferred with Arjuna Award-2024 by President Droupadi Murmu - who presented Sports and Adventure Awards 2024 at National Sports Award Ceremony held in New Delhi on Friday (January 17, 2025).
The Awards include Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Awards-2024; Dronacharya Awards-2024; Arjuna Awards-2024; Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Awards-2023; Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar-2024; and Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Trophy-2024. Ms. Deepthi is the only sportsperson from Telangana to receive any of the categories for 2024.
Her achievements include a Bronze medal in Paralympic Games (Women’s 400m T20) held in Paris, France in September of 2024; Bronze medal in World Championship (Women’s 400m T20) held in Kobe, Japan in 2024 and Gold medal in 4th Asian Para Games (Women’s 400m T20) held in Hangzhou, China in 2023.
“In recognition of her outstanding achievement in the sport of Para-Athletics, the Arjuna Award for the year 2024 is being conferred upon Ms. Jeevanji Deepthi,” as per official communication.
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy congratulated her for the award. He reiterated that the State government is shaping a Sports Policy to encourage more sports persons from the State excel in national and international sports competitions.
Telangana BJP president and Union Minister of Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy too congratulated Ms. Deepthi. Her achievements are a source of pride for Telangana, an inspiration to the youth of the State. I wish her many more such achievements, said Mr. Reddy.
