Potholes on NS spillway bund portion to be plugged with IIT Roorkee expertise

The State government has decided to take up repairs on the Nagarjunasagar Dam by plugging the potholes developed on the bund, particularly the spillway portion, after getting the damage studied by experts from IIT Roorkee.
In a review meeting held with elected representatives of Nalgonda and senior authorities of the Irrigation department here on Tuesday, Minister for Irrigation and Civil Supplies N. Uttam Kumar Reddy instructed the authorities to call for tenders for the link canal to connect High Level and Low Level Canals by giving administrative approval at the earliest.
He wanted the engineers of Nagarjunasagar Project to revive all lift irrigation schemes based on the Left Canal, including those managed by the Irrigation Development Corporation (IDC), and expand the ayacut by getting them ready for giving water from the next Kharif season. Further, he told the officials to speed up work on the phase-one of Nellikallu lift irrigation scheme taken up with ₹664.8 crore and approve construction of a check-dam at Anumula.
The Nellikallu scheme was taken up to give water to 24,624 acres by drawing water from Nagarjunasagar and under the first phase 7,600 acres would get water.
The minister told the authorities to take 60 mm cement-concrete lining of 90.43 km length of AMRP-SLBC canals with ₹42.26 crore to ensure water reaches the tail-end ayacut. As most of the 39 lift irrigation schemes based on the Left Canal were not functioning, the Minister wanted the officials to prepare estimates early and revive them.
