BJP State president calls out Tamil Nadu leaders opposing three-language policy, demands disclosure of children's schools.
BJP State president K. Annamalai on Monday said political leaders of the ruling, opposition, and newly formed parties in the State, which are against the three-language policy as prescribed by the National Education Policy (NEP), should disclose information on where their sons, daughters, and grandchildren are studying.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin should disclose where his grandson is studying, while Leader of Opposition Edappadi K. Palaniswami, Naam Tamizhar Katchi chief coordinator Seeman, and Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam president Vijay should disclose where their children are studying.
“Let them make honest disclosures about whether their children are studying in private schools and learning three languages. The BJP will also make a disclosure,” Mr. Annamalai said in a recorded video shared on X.
Let them stand on one side, the BJP will stand in the battlefield seeking for implementation of the three-language policy, he said.
According to Mr. Annamalai, 56 lakh students studying in private schools in Tamil Nadu and 30 lakh students studying in schools that follow the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE), and International Baccalaureate (IB) are already studying three languages.
He alleged that the DMK is dividing people into two classes based on education and language. “While one category keeps developing, the other is made to handle meagre chores and take up lower-end jobs,” he said.
The NEP states that students can learn the third language, which can be an Indian language of their choice, Mr. Annamalai said. “They are crying foul that Hindi is being imposed. They say they want to agitate against this. They have to say who is imposing Hindi,” he said.
