RPF seizes 70 kg of ganja in Ernakulam-Tatanagar Express train at Arakkonam railway station, leading to police investigation.
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has seized a consignment of 70 kg of ganja in the Ernakulam-Tatanagar Express train at Arakkonam railway station in Ranipet on Saturday.
Police said that a team of RPF police personnel were conducting surprise checks on trains at the station.
The express train, which was on its way toJharkhand from Kerala, was halted at the railway station. The team searched coaches where they found two abandoned bags. When they opened the bag, they found around 25 packets that contained 70 kg of ganja.
Initial inquiry revealed that a gang of four persons got down at the railway station after they saw a police team inside the coach. They abandoned the consignment in the train and fled the spot. A case has been registered.
