
PM Modi calls up CM Stalin, assures support amid flood crisis

Prime Minister Modi assures Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin of full support amid devastating floods, requests detailed storm damage assessment.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Tuesday (December 3, 2024) to enquire about the flood situation in parts of the State and assured him of all possible support from the Centre.
Mr. Stalin wrote on X that the Prime Minister enquired about the damage, and the Chief Minister reiterated his request for assistance from the Centre for disaster and relief assistance.

Mr. Stalin requested that Mr. Modi “send a Union committee to carry out a detailed assessment of the storm damage”.
“I am sure that the Prime Minister will immediately consider this request of Tamil Nadu and take appropriate measures,” wrote Mr. Stalin.
In his letter to the Prime Minister, Mr. Stalin had urged him to release ₹2000 crore from the NDRF to aid emergency restoration and rehabilitation efforts.
“The districts of Villupuram, Tiruvannamalai and Kallakurichi, in particular, received rainfall equivalent to an entire season’s average (more than 50 cm) in a single day, resulting in widespread flooding and severe damage to infrastructure and crops,” he wrote.

The Karnataka government has drafted a comprehensive master plan for the integrated development of Kukke Subrahmanya temple, the State’s highest revenue-generating temple managed by the Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Department. The redevelopment initiative is estimated to cost around ₹254 crore and aims to enhance infrastructure and facilities for devotees.
