The Erode South District Congress Committee has urged the Tamil Nadu government to rename Mettur Road after E.V.K.S. Elangovan, the late Congress MLA of the Erode (East) Assembly constituency, who passed away on December 14, 2024.
A condolence meeting, led by the committee’s president Makkal G. Rajan, was held at the party office recently, during which a two-minute silence was observed to pay tribute to the late leader.
A resolution was passed at the meeting, calling for renaming Mettur Road in the city after him. “The road that connects G.H. Roundabout and Sathy Road should be renamed E.V.K.S. Elangovan Road as a tribute to him,” the resolution stated.
