Phase II of Hogenakkal Combined Water Scheme to be implemented at ₹7,995 crore: Minister K.N. Nehru
Municipal Administration Minister K.N. Nehru said that Phase II of the Hogenakkal Combined Water Scheme for Krishnagiri district would be implemented at ₹7,995.37 crore.
On Saturday, the Minister inaugurated underground drainage (UGD) works at Krishnagiri Municipality at a cost of ₹49.86 crore, a vegetable market at ₹1.10 crore at Santhaipettai, and laid foundation for new project works worth ₹1.01 crore.
At the function, the Minister said that in the last three years, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin provided various development projects worth ₹1,000 crore to Krishnagiri district, including ₹772.17 crore to Hosur Corporation, ₹95.03 crore to Krishnagiri Municipality, ₹14.72 crore for Uthangarai town panchayat, ₹11.87 crore for Kaveripattinam town panchayat, ₹8.89 crore for Kelamangalam town panchayat, ₹19.24 crore for Bargur town panchayat, ₹15.02 crore for Denkanikottai town panchayat, and ₹13.53 crore for Nagojanahalli town panchayat.
For Krishnagiri district, drinking water is provided through 21 water schemes, and per day, 85.86 MLD of water should be supplied, and as of now, 82.03 MLD of water is supplied a day, and through this, 18.09% of people were benefitting, the Minister added.
Assured that the Chief Minister will implement phase II of the Hogenakkal Combined Water Scheme in Krishnagiri district, Minister Nehru said that through this, 38.82 lakh people will benefit.
Food and Civil Supplies Minister R. Sakkarapani said that in the past 44 months of the DMK regime, 17 lakh ration cards had been provided and 115 full- and part-time ration shops had been opened. Through the rice mills in Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri districts, quality rice was supplied to the public. For storing paddy, a godown would be constructed at ₹15 crore soon, the Minister added.
At a function held at Karimangalam in Dharmapuri district, Mr. Nehru, Mr. Sakkarapani, and Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister M.R.K. Panneerselvam inaugurated a knowledge centre at ₹1.40 crore, a weekly shandy at ₹2.74 crore, and inaugurated three completed scheme works at ₹4.35 crore. The Ministers also handed over welfare assistance to 1,557 beneficiaries at ₹19.52 crore.
