People look up to Congress owing to ‘failures’ of TDP, YSRCP: CWC member Gidugu Rudra Raju

Gidugu Rudra Raju believes Congress will rise in Andhra Pradesh politics due to failures of YSRCP and TDP.
Congress Working Committee member and former Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Gidugu Rudra Raju said the Congress party would play a vital role in the State politics as people started looking up to the Congress owing to the ‘failures’ of both the regional parties — the Telugu Desam Party and the YSR Congress Party — in the last ten years.
He said the steep political fall of YSRCP with the continuous resignations of top leaders had provided a great opportunity for the Congress party to regain its past glory in Andhra Pradesh. Mr. Rudra Raju who visited North Andhra districts to review the party’s position shared his views with The Hindu while hoping for a quick revival of the party in the State.
He said the people lost faith in the Chandrababu Naidu government also as it failed to fulfill its super-six promises and ensure development of the State.
“Congress party will quickly penetrate into the political vaccuum created by both the YSRCP and the Telugu Desam Party. It is going to play a lead role by 2029 general elections. With a view to strengthen the party in Andhra Pradesh, the Congress high command is taking a series of measures to improve the party’s strength at the grass root level. It directed the senior leaders led by PCC president Y.S. Sharmila Reddy to hold review meetings in all districts,” said Mr. Rudra Raju.
He alleged that both the YSRCP and the TDP had failed to exert pressure on the Union Government for the implementation of assurances given in Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, which was enacted by the then UPA government for the quick development of Andhra Pradesh.
“Unfortunately, all the parties, except the Congress, don’t have the courage to question the Narendra Modi government with regard to Visakhapatnam Steel Plant and other issues. People are beginning to understand that it is only the Congress, which can put the State on the path of progress. The change in the perceptions of the people will certainly ensure a decent victory for the Congress in next local body elections,” said Mr. Raju.
