Over 300 traffic ambassadors appointed in NTR Police Commissionerate

Introducing traffic ambassadors in Vijayawada to assist police in resolving traffic issues and ensure smooth flow of traffic.
Police Commissioner S.V. Rajashekar Babu on Monday announced the introduction of traffic ambassadors to resolve traffic issues in Vijayawada. A total of 392 persons have been appointed as traffic ambassadors in the NTR Police Commissionerate.
Participating in a coordination meeting for the traffic police and the newly-inducted traffic ambassadors in Vijayawada on Monday, Mr. Rajashekar Babu said that interested persons from various professions have been appointed as the traffic ambassadors.
Additionally, drones and Astram App will be utilised for the free flow of traffic in the NTR Commissionerate. Officers will monitor the drones integrated to the command control centre, take decisions on traffic diversions and deploying additional police to clear traffic jams, Mr. Rajashekar Babu said.
“A Whatsapp group will be created for the traffic ambassadors, who will alert the police on processions, protestors, road accidents, breakdown of vehicles and traffic congestion due to other reasons,” he said. The Whatsapp group will have access to the traffic police and once the traffic ambassadors sends the messages, photographs or the videos, police will respond and deploy additional force to clear traffic.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Gowthami Sali, DCP (Traffic) Krishnamurthy Naidu, DCP (Crimes) Tirumaleswar Reddy, Additional DCP (Traffic) A.V.L. Prasanna Kumar and other officers thanked the traffic ambassadors for coming forward to help the police.
