Over ₹155 crore distributed as loan assistance to SHGs in Tirunelveli and Thoothukudi districts

Tamil Nadu Speaker provides ₹52.57 crore loan assistance to 771 beneficiaries at women's day event in Tirunelveli.
The Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Speaker provided loan assistance worth ₹52.57 crore and other welfare measures to 771 beneficiaries, at the women’s day event held at Nehru Auditorium in Tirunelveli on Saturday. He also presented Manimekalai awards for the years 2022-23 and 2023-24 for 18 Self Help Groups (SHGs).
During the event, a bank loan of ₹50.07 crore was disbursed to 492 rural and urban women’s SHGs. Additionally, financial aid of ₹5.55 lakh was provided as a revolving fund to 37 groups, while ₹5 lakh was allocated as a regional business centre loan to 10 members from 10 groups, ₹2 lakh was granted to four panchayat-level federations under integrated farm package, nine women entrepreneurs received ₹8 lakh under the women entrepreneurship scheme, ₹1.39 was allocated for 139 panchayat, ₹46 lakh was provided as a co-subsidy to 14 SHGs and ₹45 lakh was distributed as a micro enterprise fund loan to 66 members at the event.
District Collector R. Sukumar, Lok Sabha Member C. Robert Bruce, Assembly Member M. Abdul Wahab and others were present at the event.
In a similar initiative, Thoothukudi Collector K. Elambahavath provided a loan assistance worth ₹104 crore to 1,206 SHGs in the district. Among the beneficiaries 684 rural SHGs received ₹76.96 crore, while two village-level federations were granted ₹1.52 crore. Additionally ₹24.01 crore was given to 213 urban SHGs.
At the event Thoothukudi Corporation Mayor Jegan Periyasamy, Ottapidaram Assembly Member M. C. Shanmugaiah, Additional Collector (Development) R. Ishwarya and others were present.
