BJP Belagavi unit president Subhash Patil said the budget achieved nothing other than Muslim appeasement.
The opposition BJP described the budget presented by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on March 7 as the ‘outgoing budget of a retiring CM’. Party Belagavi unit president Subhash Patil said the budget achieved nothing other than Muslim appeasement.
“The Congress party has introduced a budget for the modern Muslim League. The State Government has set aside over ₹1,000 crore for Muslim oriented schemes. It is increasing the honorarium to mosque Imams by ₹6,000 and a fund of ₹150 crore has been set aside for Waqf properties. There is a scheme to provide self-defence training only to minority girls. This is unacceptable,” he said.
“According to Karnataka Development Programme statistics, only 62% progress has been achieved in the last year. What is the use of presenting another budget now when last year’s grant has not been spent yet? It is like making a student appear for the sixth standard exam before he clears the 5th standard. It is all only talk and no achievement.
“This is a budget only for namesake. It is a pauper government’s budget. It will not benefit the State in any way. The Congress government is unable to implement its own five guarantees. It is stuck in a situation where it can neither continue the guarantees nor implement them properly,” Mr Patil said.
