Ongole police arrest 12 drug peddlers, seize 4 kg of ganja worth ₹20,000, and ₹10,000 cash from gang.
Ongole police on Monday arrested 12 drug peddlers and seized 4 kg of ganja worth around ₹20,000 along with cash of ₹10,000 from the gang’s possesion.
The arrested were identified as Prasanth Kumar Sahu, Sunil Behra, Vadela Vasu, Sai Midhun, Subbarami Reddy, Kunchala Manikanta, Abhinash Behra, Ankamma Rao, Veeranjaneyulu, Gudipati Dushyanth, Sunkara Bala Chiranjeevi and Sonuram. Some of them were from Odisha while others were from the surrounding villages of Ongole.
Addressing the media, Ongole Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) R. Srinivasa Rao said that Mr. Prasanth Kumar had worked for some years at the Vellampalli Spinning Mill, and continued to stay there even after the mill closed down. He started the ganja transportation business at the spinning mill’s premises. Along with the other eleven accused, he was both consuming and selling ganja.
On Monday at 12.30 p.m., all accused gathered near the spinning mill, where Mr. Prasanth Kumar sold 2.5 kg to them and took for ₹10,000 as advance. Maddipadu SI B. Siva Ramaiah and Ongole 1 Town SI P. Siva Naga Raju, along with their teams, raided and seized 4 kg ganja from their possession.
During the raid, Maddipadu mandal Executive Magistrate and three VROs were also present. Prakasam District Superintendent of Police A.R Damodhar appreciated Ongole SDPO, Maddipadu SI, Ongole 1 Town SI and their staff B. Venkateswaralu, Umamaheswara Rao Maddipadu P.S., who aided the arrest of the accused.
